Both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton declared winners of New York primaries for their respective parties.
Trump has been declared winner of New York Republican primary
after he clearly won the voting. He is hoping the result will boost his bid for
the White House.
Hillary Clinton also trashed her opponent, Bernie Sander
with 60% to 40 to win the Democrats primary in New York.
However, there have been reports of many people not being
able to vote due to polling locations that opened late and malfunctioning
ballot scanners.
Comptroller Scott Stringer stated his office had received complaints
of people not being able to vote and he said “the people of New York City have
lost confidence that the Board of Elections can effectively administer election
and we intend to find out why the BOE is so consistently disorganized, chaotic
and inefficient”.
Stringer went further to question the Board process fairness
to cancel the registration of those that have recently not voted in elections
and their failure to respond to notices requesting them to confirm their
addresses.
The City Board of Election’s executive director, Michael
Ryan however on Tuesday dismissed the issue raised by Scot Stringer; he said “overwhelming
majority of voters cast their ballot without any issue”.
